Elastomeric concrete armored expansion joint system


Description:
The expansion joint system is a unique and superior joint system used in the construction and rehabilitation of expansion joints for bridges. The system combines a unique aggregate reinforced synthetic elastomeric compound with the simplicity of the system. It performs the function of anchoring the expansion joint system to the deck, replacing any mechanical anchorage. The system is well suited to high-impact applications due to its durability and resistance to chemical attack in harsh environments.

    Design information:
    The system incorporates a machined steel top clamping bar, which is connected to a steel section using A325 structural hex head bolts.  The removable top clamping bar securely locks the continuous sealing element into place. All steel edge members are produced from CSA g40.21 grade 300W. The sinusoidal anchor is designed to transmit impact forces into the WaboCrete II elastomeric concrete. It is a two-component polyurethane, 100% solids material field-mixed with specialty aggregate. This elastomeric seal can handle movements up to 100 mm.
